Bricks
Efflorescence occurs when water dissolves salts contained in porous building materials (brick, concrete, stone) and carries them to the surface. As the water evaporates, salt crystals form and accumulate over time. (As seen pictured above).
To address efflorescence effectively, begin by eliminating the source of moisture. Check for leaks or plumbing issues inside the building; outdoors, consider ways to prevent prolonged wetting (improve drainage, redirect downpipes, or add protective coverings where appropriate). Painting alone will not permanently stop efflorescence, but our undercoat helps by sealing the substrate and reducing salt migration.
Our recommended process for surfaces affected by efflorescence:
Remove all visible salt deposits and thoroughly clean the area to prevent future bloom.
Apply our premium undercoat, which acts as a sealant and promotes adhesion.
Finish with two coats of premium acrylic paint in your chosen colour for long-lasting protection and appearance.
If efflorescence recurs after treatment, re-check moisture sources and consider more extensive waterproofing or structural repairs.
Painting your brickwork is an effective way to refresh your home’s appearance. Many clients choose to paint bricks to revive an aged or weathered look because it’s an impactful solution.
Our process:
Thoroughly clean bricks and mortar joints with a dusting and brushing to remove loose dirt and debris.
Apply a high-quality primer/undercoat to promote strong adhesion and a uniform finish.
Finish with two coats of premium acrylic paint. For exterior brick we use premium exterior acrylic formulated to withstand sun exposure and weathering.
The result is a clean, cohesive surface and a noticeably refreshed space.
