Scraping Paint

Removing paint is one of our most important and satisfying tasks. Old coatings can hide hazardous substances such as lead, especially in older Queenslander homes. Even when no harmful chemicals are present, removing failing paint is essential: bubbling, flaking or poorly adhered layers are often the result of inadequate preparation from previous work.

Applying a fresh coat over an unstable surface won’t fix those problems and can even make them more visible. As Aaron’s dad used to say, painting is 70% preparation. Starting with a sound, clean surface gives you the best looking, longest lasting finish.

Not every job requires full paint removal sometimes only a single wall needs attention, but where paint is loose, it must be removed before we proceed.
