Hi everyone! My name is Ruby, and I am the admin assistant at Bufo Paint. Lucky for you (and unlucky for some of my friends) I’m a chronic over communicator and chronically early! Not so bad for bad habits, right?!
I have recently joined Bufo Paint (May 2025) to further my education, I am completing my Certificate 3 in Business and Admin and picking up some painting skills along the way!
Bufo Paint is owned by my dad, Aaron. It is such a privilege to be able to work with my family every day and be a part of this stress-free workplace. Regardless of Bufo Paint being my family’s business, I would have worked here anyways! Bufo Paint upholds all my personal morals and values, and at the end of my day I feel proud of not only my personal work, but the impact my work has left on the world. I think it is extremely rare to work for someone and feel that you are upholding all your personal values.
While for me painting is not my passion, I have found joy in painting! While painting is a simple word, it is not as simple as it sounds! Turns out, “painting” a house involves a whole lot less of, well… painting and a whole lot more of everything else. When I turned up for my first day of painting (not including the occasional weekends work that sometimes occupied my childhood) I was shocked at the amount of preparation, when I showed up for my third day, I was shocked that we were just cracking the paint! In all honesty, when I was a kid and I heard the tales Dad would come home with, I thought “why would anyone pay someone to paint their house? Just, like, pick up the brush and spread the paint on your house. It’s not that hard.” Wow. Was I wrong? It turns out, it is that hard! It’s like, professional level hard! But now, a few months in and I’m on my way to becoming skilled in all the different things we do – I can now putty holes, I can definitely sand some stuff, I can use various tools, including a drill!! As I’m becoming more confident in my work, I’m finding the work to be enjoyable and less like work and more like work it!
With that last comment, you definitely have noticed I’m a woman; and if you’ve ever had trades work in your home, or you’ve ever peaked into a construction site, or seen a sea of Hi-vis shirts, you’ll be lucky to spot a woman. But here I am, working in large scale construction sites, bringing some representation! I am proud to work in a male dominated field, and while sometimes I can be a little intimidated, I am not afraid to get my hands dirty! I hope that in the next few years I will see more females working in trades, but for now, I’m proud to stand out.
As an admin assistant I travel with our team to different job sites, so that I can help our team when I’m not helping you! From the first quote to the end invoice, I’ll be with you. Between my communication skills and Aaron’s over 25 years of professional painting experience we are the dream team!
Okay, I have about 5 more paragraphs I’d love to write, I’d love to make everyone who has read this far read for ever more about myself, but that seems unfair and possibly bad marketing. So, this is where I’ll leave you, and I hope to be E-meeting you very soon!
